Pros

- Friendly and competent coaches
- Attentive boat captain
- Comfy and well-maintained boat
Cons
- Quite pricey
- Weekend slots fill up fast
Beginners and experts will find plenty to love about DREAMWAKE Academy’s wakesurfing sessions, particularly its efficient customer service and high-quality, well-maintained sports equipment.
We booked a two-hour slot on a weekend using the school’s user-friendly online booking platform. Upon arrival on the dock, Oliver (head coach) and Din (boat captain) greeted us with smiles, which was a great first impression.
What sold us, even before getting onto the water, was the spanking clean and spacious 2022 Axis T23 tow boat.
The ride to the surfing spot was comfy and smooth. Moreover, the boat’s wake packed a lot of punch, producing irresistible waves!
Oliver was an exemplary coach. I went in with zero wakesurfing knowledge but eventually got up on the board, entered the wave, and completed a few basic tricks, all thanks to his encouraging, non-condescending, and tailored coaching!
DREAMWAKE’s rates are above average, though (at $220+ per hour). Also, slots are open for up to three months only.
As weekend sessions run out fast, you have to be decisive and quick if you want to book a lesson!

Pros
- Reasonably priced group sessions
- Over seven years of operation
- Coaches are Singapore Wakefest medalists
- User-friendly booking platform
Cons
- Pricey private sessions
- Slow response possible
Wakemusters’ group sessions are ideal if you want to save some dollars and don’t mind being in a wakesurfing class with strangers.
The group session, with a duration of 2.5 hours, costs $150 per pax and can be as low as $99 if you’re a first-timer. The caveat is that you only have 30 minutes to practice wakesurfing if the class you’re in maxes out its five-people limit.
While half an hour sounds short, Wakemusters’ coaches (who are all wakesurfing medalists) have teaching the basics down pat. They will ensure that you at least can go up on board before your time is up!
People who want to learn without time pressure may opt for the private classes. However, this option is far more expensive at $350 per hour.
Another thing that might be a bummer for some is the school’s communication preference. Wakemusters prefer to chat and text when transacting with customers, which you might not like if you find calling more convenient.

Pros
- Reasonable rates
- You can select your coach upon booking
- Also offers wakeboarding and wake foiling lessons
Cons
- Possible booking challenges
- Customer communication needs improvement
Ryders Singapore offers wakesurfing and wakeboarding lessons. We like these, as we know people who want to try their hands (or feet) at both water sports and it would be convenient to learn both in one place.
We also love Ryders’ reasonable prices! Lessons here start at $150 to $200 per hour (except for the combined wakesurfing and wakeboarding and the wake foiling classes, which start at $300).
Better yet, we find it convenient how you can choose your coach upon booking online.
The feature helps repeat customers who want to stick to one instructor or explore their options. The school even lets you know who among the coaches speaks Mandarin!
However, those who want to stick to one coach might find booking a slot more challenging, especially if the instructor is popular.
Also, some customers mentioned that Ryders should improve its front desk. One of them talked about how customer service didn’t clarify the three-month rescheduling period when she asked to postpone her session.
4. Surf N Wake

Pros
- Seasoned wakesurfing coach
- Beginner-friendly lessons
- Offers discounts regularly
Cons
- Fewer class slots than other wakesurfing schools
- Pricey per-hour rate
With his decade-long experience, head coach Yen of Surf N Wake has sufficient knowledge to share with wakesurfing newbies.
His lessons are popular for their beginner-friendliness! It might also explain why many first-timers we interviewed opted to return to the school for subsequent sessions.
We find it impressive that Surf N Wake keeps attracting repeat customers, as the lessons are a bit pricey at around $250 per hour. We asked why, and the patrons said they liked that the coach was hands-on, warm, patient, and enjoyable to work with.
Also, Surf N Wake offers regular discounts as high as 80%. Not bad for first-time clients!
However, the school has only one coach, so expect limited slots.

Pros
- Modern, powerful boat
- High-achieving coaches
- Fun and friendly teaching style
- Has a cute resident dog on board
Cons
- No booking form on website
- High per-hour rates
WAKEPIT primarily offered wakeboarding lessons but recently added wakesurfing and wake foiling to the mix, leveraging the similarities of the three water sports.
The school proves its seriousness in teaching all three with its state-of-the-art Axis T235 tow boat. Its cutting-edge design is specific for wakeboarding and wakesurfing with its powerful wake and capacity to create consistent, clean waves!
Moreover, the school’s coaches are impressive; all clinched gold or silver medals at wakeboarding events! Students said the instructors live up to their stellar reputation by being patient and providing detailed wakesurfing guidance.
Moreover, they said the lessons are enjoyable because the coaches are fun and friendly.
The best part? The instructors have the adorable cockapoo, Butter, on board!
But, possibly due to the top-notch equipment and competent coaches, WAKEPIT’s prices are high. Booking is also done through WhatsApp (not directly on the website), which has caused a few missed messages and mix-ups before.
