Pros
- Premium-grade meat cuts
- Wide spread of Korean dishes
- Staff will cook the meat for you
- Spacious dining spot
Cons
- 90-minute time limit might be too short for some
- Some cuts are pricey
Hanjip’s premium cuts might come at slightly premium prices, but biting into the succulent meat was certainly worth the cost.
The platters were lip-smackingly satisfying, particularly the flavorful Australian Wagyu. The other dishes on the menu were also delightful, especially the chicken wings and seafood pancake.
Moreover, the dining experience was easier, as the staff cooked the meats for us (and it was a joy watching their efficiency).
That said, we think our waiter could be friendlier. They were attentive, yes, but they lacked that cordial aura we expect from restaurants.
We also felt a little pressured, as the restaurant was strict with its time limit. Diners are given 90 minutes, which meant we didn’t have much time to chit-chat between munching.
It was also a waste to go out early because the place was gorgeous.
Due to the time limit, the place isn’t exactly ideal for bonding over food. We suggest you look elsewhere if you’re dining with family or friends who want to take their time eating.

Pros
- Ideal for pork lovers
- Has a decent selection of beef and chicken cuts
- Free-flowing sides
Cons
- Table service needs improvement
- Can get pricey
Seorae’s extensive barbecue selection can make pork lovers in the city drool, including us.
The galmaegisal or skirt meat was the certain star of our dinner for its tenderness and spicey richness. The pork collar and belly didn’t disappoint, too.
Apart from pork, there is also a decent selection of marinated beef and chicken. Take note that the restaurant’s sweet marinades might be overwhelming to some, though.
On top of the succulent cuts, we were grateful for the free-flowing veggies and kimchi, as we didn’t feel too guilty for consuming that much meat.
The restaurant also serves several of our comfort food favorites like japchae and bibimbab. We had too much pork in our tummies, though, so we decided to try the other dishes next time.
Know that the meat cuts can be pricey for the portions. Thankfully, vouchers or discounts from Chope or Eatigo can help you save some dollars.
Also, note that you might need to cook the meat yourselves during peak days (Fridays and weekends), as the staff can’t keep up with the volume of customers.
Clumsy server mistakes such as listing a wrong order or forgetting to attend a table can crop up during this period, too. If you are easily annoyed by these errors, we suggest visiting when it’s less busy.

Pros
- Affordable BBQ buffet price
- Also serves Korean fried chicken
- Accepts walk-in customers
Cons
- Often busy
- Servers can be slow
Don Dae Bak appeals to young foodies for its youthful vibe, what with the restaurant’s K-Pop background music and graffiti-filled walls.
That said, we not-so-young foodies still enjoyed our dining here for the decent, affordable meat selection from the restaurant’s 90-minute buffet.
Although cheap, the cuts were not all fat and the marinades were perfect, making for an enjoyable eat-all-you-can experience.
We also loved the Korean fried chicken selection and were guilty of ordering more than our stomachs can handle!
However, Don Dae Bak can be a little cramped during busy days. The tables are small, too (at least for a group of five).
Also, we think the restaurant’s service needs to improve, especially during peak periods. Some of the waiters are slow to attend to the tables, which can be a bit annoying for fast eaters.
Know that the BBQ spot accepts walk-ins, which can explain why it seemed always packed with people. We suggest coming here late at night to avoid the crowd.

Pros
- Best-value meal sets
- Extensive Korean menu
- Generous serving sizes
Cons
- Place can get too stuffy for your liking
- BBQ meat quality is average
We recommend Wang Dae Bak if you and your friends are looking for a hearty Korean meal.
Yes, the restaurant offers barbecue sets, but the real best-value order for us was its lunch set.
Good for five people, the set includes a decent amount of BBQ meat, two soup choices, and two pancake flavors. All the items on the set we ordered came in generous portions!
The pork and beef were decent, tenderness and taste-wise, but not exceptional.
Fortunately, the spicy tofu soup and kimchi pancake were phenomenal and helped elevate our dining experience.
Know, though, that we cooked the meat ourselves. Assistance is available but not guaranteed, especially when the place is busy.
Also, you might want to bring a seasoned BBQ eater and griller, as Wang Dae Bak recently imposed a 90-minute time limit for its diners.
Note that the place can get smoky and stuffy. At least, when we were there, the ventilation was not in top condition.
5. Super Star K

Pros
- Reasonable meat prices
- Flavorful pork belly cuts
- Attentive and vibrant servers
- Tolerable waiting time
Cons
- Space is a bit small
- Tables are small
Super Star K has a decent amount of pork and beef cuts that are ideal for first-timers wanting to get a taste of the Korean BBQ craze.
Though the spread is basic, we did find highlights that we’d love to return to for their taste and texture, including the pork belly, black pepper chicken, and steamed egg.
We’re just disappointed that the chicken cuts were limited.
We also loved Super Star K’s service. Waiters were attentive and smiley, and they helped barbecue our meat to perfection, so we had nothing to worry about but our bulging tummies.
We had to line up a bit, though, as the place was packed when we visited.
Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait forever for a table unlike in other restaurants (we were seated after a mere 10 minutes).
That said, the tables in the restaurant are small, which can be inconvenient for a group. We, as big eaters, ordered a lot and had to make an effort to fit all the generous dish portions on the table!
We also think customers who prefer a little privacy and extra room will not like the stuffy and bustling vibe of the place.
