Top 6 Kickboxing Training Centers in Singapore

Range of lessons

We picked training centers that offer kickboxing lessons for various skill levels and ages.
We also prioritized those that offer related martial arts and fitness lessons to ensure that clients are learning holistically.

Reputation

Our selection is limited to training centers that have been operating for five years and up.
We also looked into each center’s credentials, zeroing in on those that have highly experienced and well-reviewed trainers.

Facilities and amenities

We looked into each kickboxing training center’s facilities and amenities such as kicking pads and bags, showers, and lockers, to ensure client convenience.

Customer service

We like our training centers to be responsive and polite especially if they’re handling queries and booking issues.

Pros

  • Free trial available
  • Offers free refreshments
  • Classes accommodate all skill levels
  • Clear scheduling

Cons

  • Membership plans are a bit pricey
  • Free trial not ideal for busy people

Checking out FaMa was love at first sight for us thanks to the one-week free trial it offers. The promo was lovely, as it gave us a feel of the place and the community without spending money.

We tried out the basic class where we were able to sweat it out while learning beginner-level techniques.

The community vibe and the instructor’s ardor amped up our motivation, too, which was helpful.

Though, we must say that the consecutive seven-day sessions for the free trial can be quite challenging to finish. Some of the busier ones from our team had to opt out because of obligations.

FaMa offers day passes and monthly/annual plans for access to the center, which we think works well to retain clients, especially considering that the plans are pricey.

While the one-time payment plans sound convenient, we think busy people who can’t take lessons regularly are better off acquiring the day pass to save money.

Pros

  • Friendly and accommodating trainers
  • Regular promos available
  • Wide range of martial arts and fitness classes

Cons

  • Single classes a bit pricey
  • Early morning or late night classes come with additional charge

Training at ELITE Sports Academy was a rewarding experience for us thanks to its competent and friendly instructors.

It’s important that we have fun with the lessons, as we retain more that way. Fortunately, trainers made sure we did, even adjusting to our learning curves.

We think the vibe in this place is perfect for families looking to stay fit together. The wide range of classes beyond Muay Thai and kickboxing also helps accommodate more clients.

Of the additional lessons, we love Pilates and yoga sessions the most! We appreciate the large and well-lit session space and the knowledgeable and amiable instructors.

That said, the pricing can be a hit or miss depending on your lifestyle. The best-value option is the annual plan, which you can make the most out of only if you visit the center regularly.

Installments are allowed for plans, but you’ll have to dish out an additional 15% fee.

We recommend paying upfront if you think you can commit to the annual plan or going for the single classes if you’re just trying to get the feel of it (though the latter is pricey).

Pros

  • World-class instructors and professors
  • Multiple training locations
  • Plenty of slots to choose from

Cons

  • Weekday classes begin in the afternoon
  • Not transparent on pricing

While we’re not looking to become kickboxing champions, we thought a session with world champion-factory Evolve MMA certainly wouldn’t hurt.

We’re glad we didn’t feel intimidated by the club’s prestige, as the training space here has everything you need—an accommodating front desk, friendly instructors, and state-of-the-art facilities.

We particularly like the simple joy of having a spacious shower room after sweating it all out.

If you’re lucky, you might see your favorite Muay Thai world champion here (we spotted one). You might even bump into Gracie (Roger Gracie, BJJ founder Carlos Gracie’s grandson)!

We’re just a bit disappointed that Evolve MMA isn’t upfront with its pricing. An at-a-glance list of fees per class will help dissipate our doubts about the value of what we paid.

Also, weekday sessions here start in the afternoon, probably limiting your scheduling options.

Pros

  • Lessons are done at home
  • Intensive personal training plan available
  • Knowledgeable instructors

Cons

  • Training sessions a bit pricey
  • Home setup not for everyone

Apart from its easy-to-follow classes, we liked Urban Active Fitness for its personal approach to training.

Sure, there are lessons for kickboxing available, but what ultimately floored us was the initial full body assessment, discussion on nutrition and diet plan, and workout.

This intro session convinced us that we have someone to support us as we work on our fitness goals.

The best part is that we were able to do the sessions at a gym near us (the trainer came with a load of training equipment).

We were even able to train in kickboxing in the comfort of our home, following the instructions via Zoom.

That said, we recognize that this setup will not work for everyone due to a gym not being available around their area or the client’s home not being conducive to training.

Also, while we appreciate their holistic nature, the sessions are a bit pricey. Do prepare your wallet if you want to take on your fitness journey with Urban Active.

5. Impact MMA

Pros

  • More focused lessons
  • Accommodating front desk
  • Highly-experienced trainers
  • Positive community vibe

Cons

  • No installment options for plans
  • Trial classes aren’t free

Some of us who have tried out kickboxing lessons prefer smaller classes, making Impact MMA a smart choice.

The training center limits its students per instructor to 10 slots. The gym is quite small, which is favorable, as it helps with more focused learning.

We had a great time with the trial lessons, thanks to the friendly front desk and competent instructors.

We find the walk-in single classes and one-month plan a bit pricey, though.

Moreover, the center doesn’t offer installment options for plans, so you’ll need to prepare a higher budget if you want to stick with Impact MMA.

We also find the center’s weekday sessions a bit cramped. We recommend securing your slots as early as four days ahead during weekends when it’s less busy.

Pros

  • Variety of self-defense classes
  • Excellent instructors
  • Multiple locations (gyms)
  • Easy booking

Cons

  • No address on website

JR Muay Thai was established to offer quality Muay Thai classes for those who want to learn the skill.

What we like about them is how they make such classes accessible and available for many by having different locations through collaborations with gyms.

We think it’s nice that they keep their prices and packages the same no matter the location. This way, you can book through them directly or through the gym of your choice and prices stay the same.

Through this, you can have access to classes for both Traditional and Fitness Muay Thai.

One of the classes they offer is Muay Thai Kickboxing that focuses on a bit of everything that anyone needs to build a stronger physique.

We like that they teach different things each session like cardio conditioning, a lot of martial arts tactics, sparring and self defense.

Their coaches and evidently experienced and highly reliable. They’re also great with working with kids, and explain instructions clearly.

And added plus is that it’s easy to book with them.

We do think the downside of their multiple locations is that their addresses aren’t easy available, and this is what others have complained about.
