Party ‘til the Sun Comes Up! 5 Best Clubs in Singapore

Party ‘til the Sun Comes Up! 5 Best Clubs in Singapore

  • Atmosphere – One thing that partygoers look for in a club is a fun and exciting environment where they can actually let loose and have the best time of their lives.

For this reason, we picked clubs that have great lighting, good music, and an interactive DJ.

  • Size and Capacity – Some clubs tend to get stuffy over time, especially when it’s past midnight and everyone is on the dance floor.

We selected clubs that will minimize this issue by having enough floor space that can accommodate big crowds.

  • Food and Beverage Selection – Perhaps one of the most overlooked yet important considerations when going to clubs is their food and beverage selection.

Thus, we handpicked clubs that serve food and have a selection of non-alcoholic

and alcoholic beverages ranging from rums, whiskeys, vodkas, beers, cocktails,

and even mocktails.

  • Customer Service – We chose clubs that have quick customer service, particularly speedy bartenders and wait staff.

We also considered the bouncers who are proactively looking after the club patrons.

Pros

  • Established in 1991
  • Wide dance room
  • DJ plays different genres of dance music
  • Wide selection of alcoholic beverage

Cons

  • Some staff can be a bit hostile
  • Bar closes at 1:30 am

Ever since its establishment in 1991, Zouk has remained one of the most popular nightclubs in Singapore.

In fact, ask any young adult and young-at-heart Singaporeans where they like to party, and you’re most likely to get Zouk as their answer.

As a casual partygoer myself, I share the same excitement whenever Zouk is mentioned because you’re really promised a good time, which my friends and I had.

Since this club has a wide dance room, we were able to freely swing our limbs and move our bodies to the DJ’s well-curated dance beats that ranged from pop to techno and even disco.

The bar was also easily accessible and had all the typical (and necessary) alcoholic drinks you can think of. From their wide selection, we opted to treat ourselves to a bottle of Patron and Perrier Jouet.

It’s a bit of a bummer though that the bar closes at 1:30 am, which means that you will need to order enough drinks to last past that time.

We also found some of the staff to be a bit hostile. We personally don’t mind them controlling the crowd from getting too rowdy, but we did see one of the bouncers roughly manhandling a guy for jumping and dancing.

Pros

  • Interior is 2,300 square metres
  • Has four bars inside the club
  • Not too crowded; enough space for dancing

Cons

  • Service is a bit slow
  • Staff treating other patrons unfairly when it comes to dress code guidelines

The first time I stepped foot in Marquee, I was made speechless by the combination of the flashing LED lights, pulsating techno beats, and the massive indoor Ferris wheel that should seem out of place but surprisingly isn’t.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m no stranger to clubs, but the Marquee made clubbing felt like a novelty to me.

For first-time goers like I was, the 2,300 square metres interior did slightly overwhelm me, but it soon went away when my friends and I discovered that we have a generous space for dancing all to ourselves.

Marquee has four themed bars, so you will certainly have no issue when it comes to replenishing the beverage of your choice. However, we did find the service to be a bit slower than we’d like.

We queued for 10 minutes or so to get our drinks. And even when we decided to have a server bring drinks to our booths, we realized that they took even longer.

Nevertheless, we had a pretty awesome time.

We can’t say the same for our neighbouring booth though because apparently, one of their friends wasn’t allowed to get in for wearing pants that were slightly over his ankles. So he had to go home for a quick change.

As it turns out, they were furious at the bouncer who let a foreigner in with similarly short, if not shorter, pants but wasn’t reprimanded like their friend had been.

Pros

  • DJ plays different non-mainstream music; best for music lovers
  • Cocktails are delicious yet still pack an alcoholic punch

Cons

  • Interior is small
  • Drinks are overpriced

Rather than a full-on nightclub, Cherry Discotheque is a cosy little bar slash club that hosts the hippest parties on the island.

I was thrilled to be invited by my friend, who is the coolest person I know, to go to the discotheque. Suffice it to say, it was a very musically enlightening moment for me.

The DJ played a mish-mash of old-school hip-hop, retro-pop, and techno-funk tunes which I had not heard before but had bopping my head and swaying my body the whole time.

Since this club was designed to emulate American diners, it has a relatively smaller interior, which isn’t really the best place for full-on dancing.

However, as I said, the music felt like the highlight of the whole experience, and I was glad to be a part of it.

It helped that the drinks, particularly the cocktails, were a hit as well, albeit a little overpriced. The Cherry W.A.P. Waterfall and the Bartender’s Kiss were deceptively sweet and refreshing that it made me crave more.

Pros

  • Staff is quick to serve drinks throughout the night
  • Music is heavily EDM-centred/influenced
  • Unique interior design with heavy futuristic and underground pool themes

Cons

  • Interior is relatively small
  • Lighting is too dim and predominantly blue/cool-toned

Although relatively new to the game, Drip Singapore has attracted quite a lot of patrons with its unique aquatic slash underground pool interior design that ravers and thrill-seekers seem to love.

The interior is dark and almost broody, but it also felt like I was in a futuristic aquarium. Add the techno beats and EDM music, and I might as well have been in one of those nightclubs shown in the movie Blade Runner.

At first, I wasn’t too keen on the whole scene because the lighting was a tad bit too blue and dark-toned for me. The music also wasn’t my preferred genre, so I struggled to get into the mood immediately.

The dance floor or the main room was also relatively small, which got stuffy later in the night as more people trickled in.

However, I eventually found reprieve in their wide assortment of alcoholic beverages and copped my friend and me a bottle of Don Juan. Their server was also proactive and kept the drinks coming to our table all night.

Despite not vibing with the club’s overall atmosphere, I do recognize that it’ll be a hit for people who are partial to rave music and hypnotic LED panels that are reminiscent of popular nightclubs in Berlin.

Oh, and by the way, they have an empty pool you can dance in right in the middle of the main room!

Pros

  • Music selection is a combination of chart-toppers and popular throwbacks
  • Attentive and proactive bartenders, wait staff, and bouncers
  • Free entry for ladies on Wednesdays until 1:00 am

Cons

  • Interior is relatively smaller
  • Overpriced drinks

Yang Club may be smaller compared to the other iconic nightclubs mentioned in this list, but what it lacks in space, it makes up for its infectious good vibes.

I was immediately enthralled by the crowd and the music that welcomed us. My friends and I wasted no time joining them.

The DJ was playing a combination of chart-toppers and popular throwbacks that I almost didn’t mind squeezing into sweaty dancing bodies.

However, it did get a bit suffocating after a while, and I had no choice but to force my way out of the dance floor.

Sweaty people and lack of ventilation aside, my friends and I really did enjoy our whole experience.

The bartender and the wait staff served us our drinks quickly, and one of the bouncers even helped my friend wiggle away from the unyielding crowd near the DJ booth.

The only real downside that we experienced was that most of the drinks, especially their cocktails, were overpriced.

So if you want to party in this exciting joint, we suggest you pregame. Good news if you’re a lady like me: Yang Club lets women in for free on Wednesdays until 1:00 am.
